CHOW Completes4 MW Solar Farm in Japan; other farms also set to open soon
Chow Steel Industries Public Company Limited (CHOW) announces the full operational launch of its first solar power project in Japan. A ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony was held on November 10 at the Kyotango Solar Power Plant, located in Kyoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan.
In attendance at the November 10 event were The Honorable Mr. Vichit Chitvimarn, Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Osaka; Dr. Pruchya Piumsomboon, Chairman of the Board, CHOW; Mr. Anavin Jiratomsiri, Chief Executive Officer, CHOW; Mr. Narucha Ruchuphan, Executive Director and Consul, Thailand Board of Investment, Osaka; and Mr. Worawut Somwangprasert, Deputy Director, Thai Trade Center, Osaka.
The Kyotango project came online and started commercial operations on November 12. It adds 4 megawatts of capacity to the Kansai region’s electric grid and is the first of CHOW’s planned solar power projects for 2014. Construction of the solar farm began in July and was completed in two months. The facility obtained a 20-year agreement to sell power at 40 JPY/unit. CHOW’s other projects are in various stages of construction.
CHOW operates its solar business through its two subsidiaries – Chow International Co., Ltd. as its investment arm and Premier Solution Co., Ltd. as the project developer. Mr. Anavin remarked that with this arrangement, the company is poised to expand further in the next year.
